Last year I shot the Canadian Vote Summit at the Grande Bibliotheque (BAnQ) in Montreal.
It was an extremely interesting event to photograph. I got to learn about the challenges of holding elections, of combating voter apathy, and many other topics that opened a window into a world I hadn’t seen before. Listening to the speakers (such as Richard Reeves and Hahrie Han, among others), gave me a new appreciation for the democratic process – it’s strength, fragility, and importance – and for the people who work hard to ensure it continues; although it’s something we here in Canada take for granted, it’s not a given.
The attendees also enjoyed a workshop in using AI in the electoral process at MILA, somewhere I’ve visited regularly for portrait work.
I worked for Josh Fee at Carousel for this assignment, and would like to thank him for the trust.
