Towards the end of last year, I was hired by College Sainte-Anne Dorval to photograph their high-school hockey program for their communications and marketing material.
The brief was to highlight the skills the students learn in the program (with a conceptual focus on showing that they have fun, work hard, compete courageously, and learn resilience, collaboration, and communication), and to create a series of professional team photos, portraits and headshots, for each cohort.
For the program, I shot various hockey practices, matches, and theoretical classes. The portrait sessions were held separately.
All of this had to be done within tight time constraints and with a limited budget, which capped the amount and type of equipment I could use. It was a fun challenge, and I’d like to thank Tim O’Connell and Patrick Niiya for their trust in giving me this assignment. Thanks too to anyone who helped me out on the portrait days with moving lights around, etc, to help things progress smoothly.
I’m really happy with the way these shots turned out; so too are the College, the kids, and their parents.
