A SynBio Markets event I photographed at ewerk in Berlin. A beautiful venue, a historic electrical substation that used to be a techno club

As for the event, it was one of a few I shot towards the end of 2019 that have me hope for the future. Many of these events had a drive towards sustainability and drastic cuts in pollution as major themes. This event’s focus was on harnessing the varied uses of synthetic biology to play their part in, to choose one example, the aviation industry; from radically altering fuels, to changing the ways in which a range of aircraft components are manufactured.
