At the end of 2022 I was contracted by fellow Montreal photographer Julian Haber to join his team covering COP15. Although I shot for a couple of days (and you can see two of those shots in my event portfolio), my main job for the two weeks was to take care of the image editing and processing for the team. 

Each day we needed to cover a wide range of events – plenary sessions, side events, presentations, panel discussions – that took place over the entirety of the vast Palais des Congres. I had to cull, select, process and publish a tightly curated set of images to the UN Biodiversity Flickr account as quickly as possible, so that international media could have rolling access to images from the event.

It was high-speed, high-pressure, and high-intensity work, a lot of fun, and also interesting to bear witness to the ideas and negotiations leading up to the historic agreements. The team’s photos were published in major international news outlets, and even headed the article published in The Guardian that announced the agreement after the final, marathon closing plenary.

The photos on this page were all taken by the photography team – Julian Haber, Dan Haber, Eric Gagnon, and Eva Blue – and edited by me. They’re weighted heavily towards the final day of the conference, as that was when all the exciting stuff happened.
