MY APPROACH

Every architectural project has its own character, and I believe the photography should reflect that. I work closely with architects and other creators to understand the ideas behind a project before planning the shoot. This allows me to identify the details, spaces, viewpoints, and relationships that are most important to the design.

My approach combines careful planning with an awareness of changing conditions on location. Light, weather, season, surrounding landscape, and the presence of people can all have a significant effect on an architectural photograph. I consider these elements when determining the best time and approach for a shoot, while remaining flexible enough to respond to what happens on the day.

Using my experience and aesthetic judgement, I create comprehensive sets of images that show both the overall project and the details that make it distinctive. I pay particular attention to perspective, proportion, light and shadow, materials, texture, pattern, colour, and form, as well as the way people experience and move through a space.

I photograph a wide range of architectural and designed environments, including commercial and residential architecture, public buildings, interiors, urban spaces, landscape architecture, cultural projects, and developments. Where appropriate, I also incorporate people into architectural photographs to demonstrate scale and show how a space is actually used.
